FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Know what you are trusting.
Body composition is personal, and confidence starts with honest answers. Here is what BodyFat AI measures, how the plan responds and where you stay in control.
BodyFat AI questions and answers
Is a BodyFat AI scan a medical test?
No. BodyFat AI provides estimates for general wellness, education and personal progress tracking. Its body fat percentage, fat mass and lean mass outputs are not diagnoses, medical advice or clinical measurements. They should not replace care from a qualified professional or a clinical body composition assessment when medical accuracy is required.
How does the scan work?
The app guides you through front, side and back images and checks factors such as pose, framing, distance and lighting. Its computer vision system combines the submitted images with relevant profile metrics and available progress history to produce body composition estimates and quality signals. The completed result is added to your history so you can compare it with prior valid scans.
How often should I scan?
Once every seven days is usually enough to follow direction without overreacting to small fluctuations. Try to use similar clothing, lighting, camera distance, camera height and poses each time. Scanning at a similar time of day can also improve consistency. Focus on the pattern across several valid scans rather than treating one estimate as a final result.
Why can my estimate change?
Image quality, pose, clothing, lighting, camera position, the metrics you provide and normal model uncertainty can all affect an estimate. Real changes in body composition can also be gradual and may be smaller than short term variation. Follow the capture guidance, correct inaccurate profile details and judge repeated direction across comparable scans instead of relying on one isolated number.
Is BodyFat AI more accurate than a smart scale?
Some published studies of separate computer vision systems reported lower error than the specific bioelectrical impedance scales tested under those study conditions. Those studies did not test BodyFat AI and do not establish how this app compares with any particular scale. Results can also depend on the population, protocol and reference method. Our research review summarizes the findings, affiliations and limitations.
How does the adaptive plan work?
After a weekly scan and recovery check in, BodyFat AI reviews the information available in your account. This can include estimated scan change, nutrition adherence, scheduled strength, energy, hunger, sleep and recent target history. It then recommends holding, adjusting or pausing targets and shows the reasons behind that recommendation. You remain in control of whether to follow it.
Can BodyFat AI guarantee that I will keep all my muscle?
No app can guarantee complete muscle retention. Training quality, protein intake, recovery, rate of loss, starting condition and individual response can all matter. BodyFat AI is designed to reduce common blind spots by keeping protein, scheduled strength, estimated lean mass, recovery and progress direction visible together before a weekly target decision is suggested.
What are the four daily targets?
The Today screen brings calories, protein, steps and scheduled strength into one focused checklist. It shows what is complete, what remains and which actions are due that day. Initial targets use the profile and goal information you provide, while later weekly reviews can recommend measured changes when the available progress and recovery signals support them.
How can I log food?
You can log with a meal photo, barcode, nutrition label, food search, typing or dictation. BodyFat AI presents the detected foods, portions, calories and macros for review. You can change an item, serving or nutrition value before confirming the entry. An AI generated result does not update your daily totals until you approve it.
What if a meal estimate is wrong?
Food images, serving sizes and label recognition can produce imperfect estimates. Review every detected item and portion before saving, especially for mixed meals, sauces, oils and foods hidden from view. You can edit the result or enter information manually. Nutrition tracking is a planning aid, so confirmed entries are only as reliable as the information available.
Can I connect Apple Health or Health Connect?
Yes, on supported devices and in supported regions. You can choose to share available categories such as steps, strength completion and optional weight. BodyFat AI receives only the categories you authorise, and you can revoke future access in your device settings. Revoking a connection does not automatically erase information already imported into your BodyFat AI account.
How do progress photo comparisons work?
Each valid scan can include matching front, side and back images. You can select two recorded dates, compare the same pose side by side or use the reveal slider to inspect visual change. The comparison is most useful when clothing, lighting, framing and pose remain consistent. Progress photos provide context and should be considered alongside measurements and longer term trends.
How are my scan and progress photos handled?
Photos are used to perform the scan and, when you choose to retain them, to build your private progress history. Where supported in the capture flow, detected faces are blurred before body composition analysis. Available retention and deletion controls let you manage original images and progress records. The Privacy Policy explains processing, storage, service providers and your regional rights in more detail.
What happens if I delete my progress photos?
Deleting an original scan photo removes that image through the available deletion process and can make the related visual comparison unavailable. You may keep the recorded measurements from that scan unless you separately delete the complete scan record. Limited copies can remain temporarily in protected backups or records required for legal and security purposes, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Available controls let you remove supported nutrition entries, scans, photos and progress records without closing the entire account. You can also request an export of eligible account information or delete your account through the app or support team. Export anything you want to keep before deletion because completed deletion may not be recoverable.
Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
No. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are managed separately by the store account that made the purchase. Deleting the app, disconnecting health access or deleting your BodyFat AI account does not automatically stop store billing. Cancel the recurring subscription through Apple or Google if you do not want it to renew, then complete any separate account deletion request.
Which devices are supported?
BodyFat AI is available for compatible iPhone and Android devices through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Availability can vary by country, device model and operating system version. Your store listing confirms whether the current version is compatible with the device and account you are using.
How much does BodyFat AI cost?
The current United States App Store prices shown on this website are $14.99 per month, $49.95 per year or $299.99 for lifetime access. The 3 day free trial applies only to eligible new members who select annual access during onboarding. Google Play pricing, local prices and taxes may vary. Apple or Google shows the final price, trial eligibility, billing period and renewal details before confirmation.
How do I manage, cancel or restore a purchase?
Manage or cancel a recurring membership through the Apple or Google subscription settings for the store account used to purchase it. Lifetime access does not have a recurring renewal. If you previously purchased access, sign in with the same BodyFat AI and store accounts, then choose Restore Purchase in the app. Contact support if the entitlement still does not appear.
